 Bulkhead construction & Shoreline Stabilization

Wood or Vinyl vs Rip Rap

We create tailored bulkhead solutions to suit the site specific geological and tidal features of each property.  Our team evaluates on-site conditions and governing regulations to design durable systems that protect habitats and complement the waterfront landscape.

Living Shorelines

Using strategically placed riprap revetments and sills along with course sand and native grasses, Living Shorelines provide stability while minimizing environmental impact, preserving the natural shoreline ecosystem, and maintaining the integrity of waterfront properties over time.

Upland Retaining Walls

Retaining walls are built above the tidal wetland zone and they are intended to hold back soil and prevent erosion.  Although they may be outside the wetland zone, if they are within 100' of a tidal wetland, they are still subject to state and local regulations.

Stormwater Management

All shoreline stabilizations projects require effective stormwater management measures to reduce ponding and uncontrolled runoff. We install drainage systems, grade slopes, and incorporate water-diversion techniques that prevent soil erosion and preserve the life of the stabilization system.

Preservation and Protection of natural waterways

Innovative shoreline solutions are increasingly in demand.  Recent regulatory amendments have prioritized Living Shorelines as the default solution for erosion control in tidal areas. For over 18 years  Waters Edge Construction, LLC has delivered exceptional bulkhead construction and shoreline stabilization services in Chesapeake, Virginia, and nearby areas. Our team-based approach combines deep local knowledge with engineering expertise to create durable, sustainable solutions tailored for each waterfront project.
